Lecture at IIT BHU on Buddha Se Kabir TakVinod Kumar
Gave a talk on "Buddha Se Kabir Tak" movement at IIT BHU on 18th August 2018. Talk was attended by about 400 students and faculty. It comprised of: 1. Social factors which inspired this movement for diversity and multi cultural society 2. Genesis of the name 3. Relation between Indian Constitution and diverse Indian tradition 4. How Buddha Se Kabir Yatra at Gorakhpur was organized by SMR Trust to counter social polarization in Purvanchal 5. Future road map for the project. Talk was followed by question-answer session. Students showed lot of interest in our rich and diverse philosophical streams. They were attracted by logic of maniness in Indian philosophy. While they liked "Realistic and Relativistic Pluralism" of Jain, they were equally charmed by " One ultimate reality-Brahma" of Sankar's Advait Vedant. Buddhism and Carvak had added to the richness of pursuit of ultimate truth. Deep relationship between Indian plural life-style and philosophy was brought out to show how Multi- culturalism intertwined with equality, liberty and social justice is the only way forward for a country like India. Buddha Se Kabir Tak movement is aimed at preserving and propagating these ideas. I would like to thanks Prof RK Mandal and IIT BHU for inviting me to give this talk. I also thank Prof Sushil Singh for sitting through the session. Special thanks to Arunesh Shahi and Satish Chandra Pandey Prashant Shahi.
